Sam Roberts Shoots On Bianca Belair During NXT TakeOver: Phoenix Pre-Show, Says She Is “Not TakeOver Worthy”

The NXT Women’s Championship was on the line at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix as Shayna Baszler defended her title against Bianca Belair. During the Pre-Show, the NXT Women’s Title Match was discussed by the panel consisting of Charly Caruso, Sam Roberts, and Pat McAfee. What should have been a routine hype segment instead ended up being a very awkward and uncomfortable moment.

Sam Roberts chimed in and expressed his feelings on the challenger for the NXT Women’s Title Bianca Belair, saying that she was not TakeOver worthy. He went on to run down the list of former NXT Women’s Champions saying that they were some of the elite women in wrestling, and pointed out that Belair is nowhere close to being on that list.

Regarding Bianca Belair’s involvement in the NXT Women’s Title match at TakeOver: Phoenix, Roberts said:

“It’s.. It’s not TakeOver worthy… Bianca Belair, she’s a good athlete… but, like.. look at the list of women’s champions. You’ve got Shayna Baszler, you have Charlotte, you have Sasha Banks, you have Asuka, you’ve got Kairi Sane! This is a list of the elite women in wrestling. And Bianca Belair is nowhere close to that list.”

Roberts goes on to say that the match between Baszler and Belair would be a good match for NXT TV, but not for an NXT TakeOver special.
