“The NEW” Daniel Bryan put his WWE Championship on the line against the former Champion AJ Styles tonight at the Royal Rumble.
The match was a great athletic contest as you would expect, however the crowd seemed to be flat throughout the match. Towards the end of the match we saw Erick Rowan return from injury and make his way down to the ringside area where he watched the match.
Eventually the referee would be knocked out, which gave Rowan the opportunity he needed to make his presence felt. Rowan entered the ring and picked up AJ Styles by the face using a Claw Hold, and turned it into a chokeslam like move.
From there it was all over as Daniel Bryan made the cover and retained his WWE Championship. Bryan and Rowan would then celebrate in the ring over the fallen AJ Styles before exiting together.
