Reason That R-Truth Was Able To Appear At Bellator 214 For Jack Swagger’s First MMA Fight
Last night at Bellator 214 Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger in WWE, competed in his first-ever pro MMA fight.
Wrestling fans that tuned in were also treated to a surprise when WWE Superstar R-Truth, Ron Killings accompanied Jake Hager to the ring by rapping his entrance music. On a recent audio update via PWInsider Elite, Mike Johnson talks about R-Truth’s appearance last night at Bellator 214.
He notes that WWE and Bellator obviously had to reach some sort of agreement for things to have gone down the way the did last night, with R-Truth appearing as well as all the WWE footage that was used highlighting Hager’s time in WWE as Jack Swagger.
Regarding Hager’s fight last night at Bellator 214, Johnson said:
“R-Truth was there rapping him in and they made all sorts of references to WWE. They even did ‘We the people’ there was a reference to that in his ring entrance.”
“So there had to have been some sort of permission or handshake agreement or contractual agreement between WWE and Bellator because they even had clips of Hager wrestling as Jack Swagger on the pregame show of the broadcast. WWE isn’t going to give that stuff up without getting something in return.”
Nothing has been confirmed as to what exactly WWE received in return from Bellator for the usage of their archived video footage, and for the rights to have R-Truth appear on their TV broadcast last night.
