Plans For NXT Superstar Following Last Night’s Royal Rumble PPV
Last night WWE held their annual Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View, which featured the second Women’s Rumble Match in the company’s history. The Women’s Rumble Match lasted 71 minutes, and featured appearances from several NXT Superstars.
One of those NXT Superstars to make her debut last night was Xia Li. On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talks about Xia Li’s debut in the Women’s Rumble Match and mentions that it looks as though WWE a plan for her going forward.
Regarding Xia Li, Meltzer said:
“So the idea with Xia li is that they will always refer to her as the first Chinese wrestler in WWE History after this match. So I guess that is the idea.”
WWE would love to be able to tap into the Chinese Market, as it is easily one of the biggest in the world. Even though WWE referred to Xia as the first Chinese Superstar, she actually isn’t just the first female Chinese Superstar. Regardless WWE will more than likely continue to promote Xia Li as their first Chinese Superstar.
