New WWE United States Champion Crowned On Tonight’s SmackDown LIVE
Tonight’s episode of SmackDown LIVE kicked off with Shinsuke Nakamura defending his WWE United States Championship against R-Truth.
From the opening bell the match was all Shinsuke Nakamura, as he connected with brutal knee strikes over and over again. Then out of nowhere when it looked like Nakamura had this completely in the bag, R-Truth rolled him up for the pinfall and became the NEW WWE US Champion.
It was a questionable call as it looked like Shinsuke might have kicked out before the ref counted three, but in the end the ref’s decision stood and R-Truth was declared the winner. As Truth was celebrating his US Title victory with Carmella in the ring, Rusev and Lana made their way out to break up the party.
This led to an impromptu United States Title defense as Rusev looked to reclaim the title that he lost just two days ago. R-Truth was able to hold off the Bulgarian Brute and retain his newly won United States Title in his second match of the night.
This led to Nakamura returning to the picture as he came down to the ringside and kicked Truth in the back of the head, then tossed him into the ring. From there Rusev and Nakamura joined forces and beat down R-Truth before leaving the new US champ laying in the ring.
