NJPW Loses Two More Top Stars
It seems like every day a new report comes out about a wrestler opting to test the free agent market and leave their current promotion. Already hurting from the loss of some of their biggest draws, New Japan Pro Wrestling looks to be losing two more of their top talents to free agency.
According to a new report from Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Chuckie T and Trent Beretta are leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling. It was also reported that Beretta had been offered a new contract, which he had verbally accepted and was in line or a push but as since backed out of the deal.
Meltzer said:
“I don’t know he’s going to AEW, obviously that is the first thing you would speculate. That is certainly what I’m led to believe. I have heard nothing from AEW though.”
While Meltzer was still recording this episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, he apparently received a text message which he says pretty much confirms that but Trent Beretta and Chuckie T are both heading to All Elite Wrestling.
He went on to mention how this whole situation didn’t go over well with New Japan, as Beretta had given NJPW his word. Head booker for the promotion Gedo is known to book their storylines roughly two years in advance, and he had already written programs for Beretta. Chuckie T and Beretta are said to be finishing up their remaining time with NJPW this week.
