Joey Ryan’s Opinion On Intergender Wrestling
Joey Ryan was one of the first guests on Matt Koon’s new podcast Total Engagement. The majority of the interview talked about Joey’s upcoming documentary.
Matt asks Joey what the documentary focuses on and inter-gender wrestling is brought up.
You know there are different schools of thought and I think with all things in wrestling there is no right or wrong answers to it… I look at wrestling as more of a theater than sport. I compare it more to movies than, you know, boxing or Olympic style wrestling. So, I don’t really see gender having as much influence or impact on how you portray a story in the ring. You watch super hero movies or Star Wars or you watch anything like that, they have strong female leads in characters fighting men and you don’t think twice about it. That’s kind of how I look at wrestling. I don’t look at it as a tale of the tape so to speak… I don’t really think putting limits on the stories you tell in wrestling is a good way to grow as an industry.
Joey Ryan
I’m sure most readers already assumed Joey would be pro inter-gender wrestling, with his inter-gender tag team of him and Candice LeRae and the multitude of inter-gender wrestling matches he has under his belt. It’s better to understand why a person thinks the way they do to open ones mind to better receive what they are doing.
