Jack Swagger Pitched a Cross-Over Gimmick to Vince Before WWE Departure
Recently on the E & C Pod of Awesomeness, Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger was a recent guest of their show. On that episode of the podcast, one of the things discussed was Swagger what his plans were when he left WWE and the conversation he had with Vince McMahon.
Before Swagger left WWE, Vince had a conversation with him:
Before I left, Vince came in the hallway and told me they were wasting me. I said man that’s awesome to hear, I’ll be in your office next week with ideas. I pitched an idea of me leaving for MMA and coming back but having controversy between us. He didn’t want to do anything with it though. Communication broke down and I realized it was time to go.
One of the first people he called was Josh Rafferty.
Edge even added that Swagger was one of the first people to bet on themselves and not many people were leaving companies.
Swagger looked at guys like Drew McIntyre and Cody when it came to the independent scene.
I had MMA on my mind first and foremost because I felt I haven’t stepped in that world. I was lucky in 2006 that I was able to WWE and get in the development system.
