Vince McMahon surprised everyone when he called up Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Ricochet, and Aleister Black. His reasoning included him thinking the product was no longer fresh.
Dave Meltzer explained during Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon believes the company has no superstars, so he is trying to create new ones. This might be an answer to All Elite Wrestling’s rise in popularity.
“Vince is reacting to the ratings. I think there is a reaction to AEW.”
McMahon might have realized that the WWE simply doesn’t have any star power, so he is trying to make big changes.
“He felt that the reason the ratings are down is because the product is stale. You know the stars are stale and it’s like ‘we don’t have any Superstars and these guys that we have aren’t gonna be Superstars so we need to make new superstars so we gotta get guys that we haven’t ruined.’”
We will have to wait and see how the new superstars fare on the main roster.
