Kofi Kingston will challenge Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at Fastlane. This wasn’t WWE’s original plan, but if the crowd gives a good enough reaction, plans might change.
Dave Meltzer explained on Wrestling Observer Live that Kofi Kingston’s reaction in the Royal Rumble was so strong that it convinced Vince McMahon to change the WWE title match for Fastlane.
“I think they have an opponent for Daniel Bryan, but that may change because of the whole Kofi Kingston thing. So that may… the basic gist was Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston was not the scheduled main event at Fastlane and because of the reaction on Sunday Vince McMahon changed direction and made Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston the main event for Fastlane. How that relates to WrestleMania, I don’t know.”
Perhaps Kofi might just get a WWE title shot at Wrestlemania as well. We will have to wait and see what happens.
