Shazza McKenzie Has Words For ‘Sexist’ Joey Janela
Joey Janela’s Spring Break has quickly become the top non-WWE event during Wrestlemania weekend. It has launched careers like Marlin Stunt and rejuvenated careers like PCO. The show is a must for any independent talent to be on, especially one trying to grow their brand.
Shazza McKenzie is an Aussie talent who has been on the cusp of independent stardom for some time. Seven years ago she quit her job to chase the dream of being a full time wrestler. After a few stints in the U.S. including Chikara, Shazza had to go back home and get a job again. This year she decided to try one more time. So McKenzie quit her full time job and has booked herself for a number of promotions in the U.S. over the course of the next few months.
Shazza is at a do or die moment in her life and she is going balls to the wall. Which would make her a perfect fit for Joey Janela’s most outrageous match. The Clusterfuck. Shazza tweeted to Joey saying she wants in.
Joey responded saying there will be no women on the card. He also said he wasn’t a sexist based on McKenzie’s claims.
Then a fan pointed out that Joey has called himself sexist this year. That Shazza quickly retweeted.
Could this be true? Is Joey Janela a sexist? Or is this something greater? To openly claim that you won’t book women on a card in 2019 in American independent wrestling seems off. Especially with Joey competeing in multiple inter-gender matches in his career.
Will Shazza show up uninvited? Will she bring more women with her? If Joeys original plan was to feature zero women, he may need to rethink those plans or risk losing much of the goodwill he has built up over the past few years.
Fans have gone as far as to say they will riot. Which Joey has welcomed by saying he will just call the cops.
