The Undertaker On Injuries He Suffered In His Career
The Undertaker might not be booked for this year’s Wrestlemania and it isn’t hard to understand why. He has suffered many injuries throughout his three-decade-long career in WWE.
The Undertaker spoke to pastor Ed Young and revealed that he has had surgery on seventeen different occasions throughout his career. He also might have suffered more concussions than he could count. However, as he is a WWE legend now, he is careful and picky with his dates.
“In the last 28 years I’d say conservatively I’ve had 15, 16, 17 surgeries. I’ve had both my eye sockets crushed, I’ve been set on fire… that was not fun.”
“I’ve torn a pec, I’ve torn biceps. I’ve had several joint surgeries just to get floating bone chips and different things removed. Been concussed I don’t even know how many times. Yeah, it’s taken a pretty good toll on the body so it’s kinda smoke and mirrors to kinda keep everything together. A lot of tape, a lot of stretching and ice. But yeah, it’s not as glamorous as a lot of people think, I love it obviously it was my calling and my passion in life. It’s not nearly as glamorous as you’d think — if you didn’t work, you didn’t get paid.”
The Undertaker then talked about how WWE has changed over the years and how concussions are taken very seriously now, owing to what happened to Chris Benoit. Direct chair shots to the head are banned in WWE and these used to happen all the time back in the day, which Taker knows all too well.
Taker’s body has taken a lot of punishment over the years, so it is okay for him to take it easy now.
