The Usos defended their Smackdown Tag Team Titles against The Miz and Shane McMahon to start WWE Fastlane. It was in The Miz’s hometown of Cleaveland, Ohio. So the crowd was clearly behind him.
The Miz never won a championship in his hometown and he wanted to change that at Fastlane. His father was present at ringside as well as Miz teamed up with Shane McMahon and faced The far more experienced team, The Usos.
Despite their best efforts, The Miz and Shane McMahon were unable to secure the victory. Towards the end of the match, The Miz climbed to the top and went for a frog splash, but he was countered and rolled up for the pinfall.
Shane McMahon and The Miz hugged and had a moment with The Miz’s father. However, shortly after that Shane attacked Miz with a clothesline. He went on to hit Miz with some kicks and then locked on a choke-hold and he passed out.
It seems that The Miz vs Shane McMahon match for Wrestlemania is the direction WWE is going with.
