Smackdown Live Possibly Three Hours Long After FOX Deal
WWE SmackDown Live is moving to Fox in October and though there is still a lot of time before the move happens, there are talks of a major change.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed this. It seems that WWE is thinking of changing Smackdown Live’s runtime from two hours to three hours, with the third hour taking place on a different channel. This will be done as FS1 will need programming after losing the UFC deal.
“It is speculation [at this point] but there is a chance… there is definitely a chance of that because the feeling is that since they have to film anyway and 205 Live is kinda just a waste of air, it’s just not working that maybe what they’ll do is two hours 8-10 on Friday nights and do hour 3 on FS1 with the idea that they can get another $50 million a year off of Fox by giving that extra hour.”
Meltzer said while it isn’t concrete yet, it’s more than just an idea being thrown around. This is still being discussed and “in the financial community they’re expecting it actually.”
We will know in due time what changes will be done once Smackdown moves to FOX in October. We will give updates as we get to know more about this situation.
