Madsen was later identified as being an amateur MMA fighter himself, who had a criminal record which included charges of stalking. Madsen appeared in court for his recent charges stemming from his assault on WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart, and was given a bond amount.

It was also reported by the NY Times that Madsen had an interesting reason for why he decided to hop the guardrail and rush the ring to attack The Hitman. Madsen was said to have explained to the court his reason by saying:

“I just felt like it was the right moment”
