The Top 5 Best Money in the Bank Cash-ins
Ladies and Gentlemen…Drum Roll Please… We are diving right in to the Top 5 Best Money in the Bank Cash-ins in WWE.
Before we move to the Men’s Cash-ins we have an honorable mention. With the Resurgence of Women’s Wrestling in 2016, I would be remiss if I didn’t at least list one Women’s Money in the Bank Cash-in.
Honorable Mention Alexa Bliss
Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Ember Moon, Naomi, Natalya and Lana battle for a chance of a lifetime, hanging twenty feet above is a guaranteed Women’s Championship title shot! In a thrilling and somewhat dangerous match, it surpassed the past
year’s first match. Bliss winning seemed way too quick; having just lost the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34 to Nia Jax, a few short months ago.
Nia had Career-Making moment at WrestleMania 34 as previously mentioned above, defeating the “schoolgirl” bully Bliss after body-shaming her. Bliss and Jax were once partners and even “real life” friends, and they would do everything together on screen. Nia was our Women’s Champion for the Red Brand, but her title reign did not feel as big as it should have. Fans were not investing in her as a babyface after working most her entire main roster as a “Monstrous” heel.
Nia Jax vs. “The Baddest Women on the Planet” Rowdy Ronda Rousey was the main- event for Money in the Bank. Here you have a Champion that the fans are not buying into; and the challenger a recently signed superstar who is red-hot, an incredible athlete but an inexperienced wrestler. So, what do you do? You play the highest card out of the deck and hit the reset button.
That’s when “The Goddess of WWE” Bliss marches down when Rousey is about to lock in her “Lethal” armbar and crashes the party. Nailing Rousey with her newly acquired briefcase and tossing her out of the ring all the while trash-talking and calling her a “Rookie.” Bliss would capitalize on this and become your New Raw Women’s Champion with the WWE Universe in unison chanting “THANK YOU BLISS.”
Now We can Begin the Men’s Edition Cash-ins
#5 CM Punk
At 2019 Extreme Rules Jeff Hardy had just toppled his foe Edge in a crazy and impactful ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge and Hardy have almost a decade of history between each other; both men competed in the “Infamous” Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches while re-defining an era in Sports-Entertainment.
Edge despite Hardy’s recent WWE Championship victory over him did not feel he was championship material; Hardy’s arsenal both “Flashy and High-Flying” did not help him secure victories, compared to Edge’s “Ultimate Opportunist” mantra that has aided him in numerous situations.
Hardy proved Edge wrong and won the hearts of the WWE Universe after years of climbing the mountain; he finally sits atop as World Heavyweight Champion…That was until everything came
crashing down; when the “Straight Edge Savior” came down, on a defenseless Hardy with his briefcase in hand.
Punk would strike and pry the Championship right out of his hands. Their rivalry has been labeled to “Blur the Lines between Storyline and Reality” ignited Smackdown for the months to come. Punk on one side an alcohol-free, drug-free, and clean man and Hardy who’s had a troubled past with substance abuse and drugs and alcohol. All of this was brought into the light in this highly addictive “Pun intended” feud.
#4 Dean Ambrose
In my previous article, I explained how Seth Rollins had to vacate his WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to an unfortunate injury. After nearly a year of grueling rehab after major surgery on his knee; He finally returned to WWE programming at the 2016 Extreme Rules pay per view.
Roman Reigns had successfully defended “His” Championship against the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles in a fantastic match. As Roman was celebrating his victory a “Sneaky and Slithering” Rollins dashed into the ring; slid into the ring and executed a “Devastating” Pedigree to Roman. Not before holding his vacated Championship that he had fought so valiantly to “REDESIGN, REBUILD, AND RECLAIM.”
The next night on Monday Night Raw Per Acting General Manager Shane McMahon; granted Rollins his first one on one Championship against Roman at Money in the Bank. Fast forward to their title match which was the main event of the evening; where prior in the night Ambrose had outlasted his opponents in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
In an “EPIC” match between Rollins and Reigns, we finally got the match we were robbed of a year due to unfortunate circumstances. The Finish of the match was the Best I’ve Seen in a Long Time! Reigns is setting up for his “Devastating Spear” when Rollins; catches him from a running motion into a “Pedigree” and pins him. 1.. 2..3 While Rollins is celebrating in a memorable moment, Ambrose’s music burst through the arena.
Rollins is in panic mode looking for him, but he’s nowhere to be found. Ambrose jumps through the Crowd and hops into the ring “Executes” Dirty Deeds to Finally Capture his First WWE World Heavyweight Championship to date! The Crowd went “NUTS,” and I remember going crazy watching it on TV. What a Historic Night for The Shield indeed, all three men held the Championship in 5 Minutes! They even shared a brotherly hug backstage!
#3 Dolph Ziggler
Sorry RVD unpopular opinion I know but I didn’t follow ECW that in the ’90s when they were on fire; at times literally “Pun Intended” I was barely getting to watch WWF programming from a friend of my dads who would record Raw.
Anyways, so I remember this quite clearly Jack Swagger was all set to defeat Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29. That was until an unfortunate arrest happened; usually a superstar would be taken out of said Championship match; instead, they allowed him to stay in, and he lost. The following night on Raw Swagger and his manager Zeb Colter wanted revenge against Del Rio; Swagger was vicious and calculated in his relentless attack on Del Rio’s knee.
With Del Rio ripe for the picking, Ziggler’s music blasted through the arena; he immediately looked at the briefcase and announced the cash-in. Del Rio rose up and was trying his best to fight off Ziggler; he locked in the cross-arm breaker, we felt the end was near for his dreams. Ziggler twerked the injured knee, and he delivered a Zig-Zag for 1…2…3. I have never heard a Crowd Pop So Loud!!!! We have a New World Heavyweight Champion!
#2 Edge
#2 Edge had won the inaugural Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 21; Edge conquered Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Kane, Shelton Benjamin and Christian in a fantastic match. Edge carried the briefcase for an impressive 280 days; before 2006 New Year’s Revolution when he would ambush a beaten and bloody John Cena to win his First WWE Championship!
Earlier in the night, Edge attempted to topple Ric Flair “Current Intercontinental Champion,” but he was disqualified after using the briefcase as a weapon. The “Ultimate Opportunist” didn’t get this nickname for nothing, Cena had barely survived a brutal Elimination Chamber match against Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Carlito, Kane, and Chris Masters. Just when Cena thought the worst had passed; out came the CEO of WWE Vince McMahon as he made the shocking announcement that this man would be Cashing in his Money in the Bank Contract…Edge
He knew he had to strike fast and that he did; Edge delivered two massive spears in the spur-of-the-moment match to put down the champ. Edge has had to scratch and claw his way to top in WWE; from being a multi-time Tag Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion and now realizing his childhood dream at becoming WWE Champion!
#1 Seth Freakin Rollins
It should come as no surprise, but his cash-in certainly was. At WrestleMania 31 Brock Lesnar “Current WWE World Heavyweight Champion” was battling Roman Reigns in the Main-Event. Both men were spent, after Lesnar’s relentless attack on Reigns throughout the entirety of the match. Lesnar dropped Roman with a “Thunderous F5 at the beginning of the match and had been just playing around with Roman ever since.
Roman finally saw an opening when Lesnar’s skull smashed head-first into ring pole; he had come to life, executing three explosive superman punches to a bloody Lesnar. The Beast was not rocked, Roman geared up in the corner and delivered a “Massive” spear, but both behemoths were exhausted and unable to capitalize.
Seth Freakin Rollins music blares through Levi Stadium, and everyone knows what’s about to happen. He sprints down to the ring, tells the referee he’s cashing in, and the Crowd loses it; It’s announced that this main-event will now be a Triple Threat match; Seth attempts to go for his Signature “Curb Stomp” to Lesnar but he was caught, and as Roman delivers another spear Seth spikes his head to make history! Seth Rollins is your New WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and the place Erupts with everyone shocked!!!! Almost the same reaction that we witnessed at this year’s WrestleMania when Seth became the New Universal Champion besting Lesnar! It’s a shame that this year’s Money in the Bank has not had the same exciting buildup as in previous years. Despite this year’s Men’s Money in the Bank the contestants are Ricochet, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, Finn Balor, Ali, Andrade, Sami Zayn, Randy Orton. Maybe that’s the reason why there has not been featured prominently because all the men involved will STEAL THE SHOW!!!!!!
Can you please add in that twitter poll before seth rollins is listed as #1
