Chris Jericho is undoubtably one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. A lot of that has to do with how he reinvents himself every few years. Along with his character changes, he seems to change his finishing maneuvers as well.
The newest iteration of his character seems to be “heavy metal dad and number one star of AEW”. Chris has already begun feuding with Cody Rhodes on Cody’s “Road To Double Or Nothing” YouTube show.
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega will wrestle on May 25th to earn the right to compete for the All Elite Wrestling World Championship. Usually it is unknown who will win, but with Dave Meltzer reporting that PAC won’t be appearing on the show due to creative differences, the pieces are falling together.
PAC was due to face Hangman Page, but supposedly lose to Kenny Omega at a later date. That was supposed to be for the AEW championship. Since that information was revealed, it’s kind of obvious the way Jericho vs. Omega will go. On top of that Cody has stated that his match against his brother Dustin Runnels is more about “ending the attitude era”. Jericho has attacked Cody recently setting up a future match. Especially with Jericho being on the WWE roster during the attitude era.
To add some drama to the Omega/Jericho match, Chris took to Instagram to hype his new finishing move “Judas Rising”. In the video it’s discussed that this move is a back elbow attack and isn’t even taught in MMA anymore because it’s “too deadly”.
On Jericho’s podcast “Talk Is Jericho”, Chris discusses learning the move at Batista’s new MMA gym in Florida. Jericho has stated that if he connects with this move, his opponent will be knocked out. So look for some of the match to be built around Jericho attempting Judas Rising.
Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho will be one of the main events at AEW’s Double or Nothing event on May 25th.
