AEW President Tony Khan Addresses Rumors Of CM Punk’s Potential Involvement In Company
Following Saturday night’s AEW Double or Nothing event in Las Vegas, Nevada, AEW President and owner Tony Khan participated in the Double or Nothing Media scrum where he was asked about the rumors of CM Punk potentially joining the AEW Roster.
Tony revealed that CM Punk was one of the names of a short list of talent that they had put together when first drafting up the concept for their potential roster.
Khan said:
‘Hey, I want to start a wrestling company, who are all the names you’re gonna get?’ Everybody we got is on that list and he was also on that list, to be honest with you, but a lot of people were on that list. Most of them are here. I got almost every person I wanted.”
Khan mentioned that CM Punk was not at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas, but that the two have a good relationship. He also goes on to talk about how an appearance from Punk would have taken away from the story of the show.
“I love Phil, Phil’s great. I mean, I have a good relationship with Phil, I think he’s awesome. He was not here, as you saw, I think that’s not the story of the show. That would be a real insult to what we’ve all done to make that the story of the show.”
