Though it was confusing at first as to how the seasons of Miz and Mrs. were being divided up, it was announced the season one’s mid-season finale would be episode six entitled ‘Cowboy Miz’ and the season would pick back up again in the spring of 2019. Seeing as how this was now the mid-season finale, I was expecting a certain type of episode from Miz and Mrs. specifically looking for some sort of finality to everything that had been happening this season so far. Did ‘Cowboy Miz’ deliver a successful mid-season finale?
The First Days in Texas
In the previous episode, The Miz and Maryse were road tripping their way to their new home in Texas. Things were not so successful for them on the road trip, but they finally did make it to Texas and their new home, which they have named Castle MarMiz. While the road trip had not been the best, both The Miz and Maryse were trying to remain positive that maybe all the bad had already happened and there would be only positives in their future… that was not the case. When Maryse and The Miz arrive, they learn that the house is not finished. None of their stuff from L.A has shown up to the new house yet and when calling the moving company, they are informed that it will not get to Texas until next week. This frustrates The Miz who leaves for Saudi Arabia in a couple of days and wants everything done before he leaves.
Before he does leave for Saudi Arabia, Maryse and The Miz go out to dinner. Both feel as if they need to de-stress from the past couple of days. They discuss at dinner how they both feel like everything has been moving so fast for them recently. They admit that they feel like they don’t know how to slow down and relax anymore, deciding that with The Miz’s last couple of days before leaving, they should try to relax. This leads to The Miz taking Maryse and her Mom horseback riding and country line dancing. The Miz explains to them that since they now live in Texas, they should try to be more Texan and this is his way of doing that while still having fun. While at first, none of them are super into it, they do eventually start to enjoy themselves admitting that they are happy to be relaxing, having fun, and getting to know people/ the area itself.
As the episode starts to end, viewers see that The Miz has left for Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile back at home, the moving trucks finally make it to Texas with all The Miz and Maryse’s belongings. While he is away, Maryse unpacks everything and gets the new house in order. When The Miz arrives home, he is greeted to a new house full of their stuff and completely taken care of. Needless to say, he is very impressed with what Maryse has done while he has been away.
Where Do We Go from Here?
I have to say I was slightly disappointed with the actual mid-season finale to season one of Miz and Mrs. I had been expecting more from it when there really was not much to the episode at all. While it was great to see The Miz and Maryse adjust to their new lives in Texas and to see them successfully navigate moving, I felt like it was a weird place to end. With there not being any new episodes until April of 2019, this episode having aired in August of 2018, it seemed like this was a weird spot to end for such an extended period of time. It left me wondering where they were going to pick up from in there premiere for the second half of their first season. Overall though, I did enjoy the first half of season one. I enjoy seeing The Miz and Maryse outside of the WWE. It is so refreshing to see a couple truly be a couple and know that it is not just for the cameras. I look forward to what is to come on the rest of season one of Miz and Mrs.
