The Rumored Women’s Match In Saudi Arabia Is Not Likely To Happen
WWE’s Super Showdown event that takes place today in less than 4 hours, may not have a woman’s match after all.
Earlier it was reported that Alexa Bliss and Natalya we’re flying tin Saudi Arabia in hopes of wrestling on the card today. This would be the first ever woman’s match in the country.
Last year WWE put on the all women’s event Evolution to counter the backlash from some fans for not having women on the Saudi shows. This year there were no plans for another Evolution. That could be due to the fact that Ronda Rousey, The Bella Twins and Sasha Banks are no longer competing for the company as of this writing. Those women were some of the biggest women’s stars WWE had. The company could believe that they don’t have enough women with enough star power to carry a show. Or, not having another Evolution might mean that there was a planned women’s match for the Saudi show.
Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, has stated that, at the moment, the women’s match will not take place.
“All I know as of this moment is that they had a creative meeting today regarding tomorrow’s show and at no point during the creative meeting today was there a discussion of the women’s match.”

Time will tell if the match will happen today, but signs are saying it is not likely.
