Velveteen Dream Responds To NJPW Tweet
Velveteen Dream has made quite a name for himself in and out of the ring. An original character and wrestler who was on WWE’s Tough Enough show. Velveteen is WWE through and through.
He has impressed many with his character work and aura. He has impressed many more with his in ring work and ability to connect with a crowd. His social media game is top notch in terms of controversy, sometimes calling out the main roster or going right at Hulk Hogan when not many people would utter Hogan’s name due to past controversies.
New Japan Pro Wrestling is the number one wrestling promotion in Japan and is becoming more and more popular in the United States. One of the things holding down the popularity of NJPW is the difficulty to access their content in America. They do have New Japan World over-the-top streaming network but not to many casual fans are willing to spend the $9 a month to check them out. Their television deal in America is with AXS which only 14 million Americans can access.
To grow their brand and compete with WWE, New Japan has decided to air a free match every Monday on YouTube. The tweet announcement took a veiled shot at WWE and their Monday Night Raw brand. Velveteen Dream was quick to respond with a not so thinly veiled insult.
