Chael Sonnen announces retirement Following Bellator 222
In a battle of legends, Chael Sonnen batted Lyoto Machida inside the Bellator Cage as part of a stacked Bellator 222 event live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. After a tough loss, the legendary Sonnen announced to the live MSG crown as well as a worldwide audience watching on DAZN, that he would be retiring from Mixed Martial Arts. After the initial shock of the announcement, the New York City crowd gave ‘The American Gangster’ a well deserved standing ovation as Sonnen left his Bellator gloves in the cage in symbolic fashion.
