Akira Tozawa Possibly Gone From WWE?
What might be considered the best match on the card last night was the cruiserweight championship match. Akira Tozawa vs. Drew Gulak vs. Champion Tony Nese got the crowd in a frenzy. Lots of applause and cheering and chanting while the match was going on.
Originally the plan was for Akira to face Tony one-on-one a few weeks ago. Tozawa won a match to be the number one contender, and then it was changed that he “might get an opportunity in the future”. Then on 205 Live, there was another number one contender match that ended with Drew and Akira pinning each other, leading to last nights triple threat.
Akira Tozawa ended up getting pinned by Drew Gulak, making Drew the new champion. After the match Akira sent out a series of tweets.
Recently WWE changed the length of their contracts from three year contracts to five year contracts. Akira first signed a three year contract and those three years are now up. With Tozawa doing the honors last night, coupled with these tweets. It’s safe to say that Tozawa did not resign with the company, and last night may have been his last match in WWE.
