Potential Scheduling Conflict For NXT On FS1
The reports of FOX wanting NXT to air on FS1 on Wednesday night‘s has been rumored and reported on for over a year now, as WWE is set to begin their deal with the FOX Network in October.
It was originally reported that FOX was looking to add NXT to their FS1 lineup to help replace the void left behind after UFC moved to ESPN. However, in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter it was reported that there might be a scheduling issue that could conflict with the idea of having NXT air on Wednesday night’s on FS1.
“FS1 had a contract to air Big East basketball on Wednesday nights, so there may be a scheduling issue in the early months. The idea of NXT on FS2 would be counterproductive since the goal is to beat AEW in ratings with a developmental show, not to draw lower numbers than AEW.”
It should also be pointed out that TNT is available in roughly 89 million homes, while FS1 is only available in around 57 million households. So regardless, there is already a 30 million viewer difference in homes that have access to the two networks.
We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about a potential move to FS1 for NXT.
