Dave Meltzer is an extremely controversial person in the industry of professional wrestling. He along with Jim Cornette basically invented the star rating system for wrestling matches. Dave arguably invented “professional wrestling journalism” and is one of the most influential voices when it comes to wrestling on the internet. At the same time, Dave has many detractors based on his observations, opinions and inability to admit when he is wrong. On top of that, many people inside the industry have said that Dave sometimes makes things up and prints them as fact.
One wrestler who seems to have an extreme problem with Dave Meltzer is Simon Gotch. Gotch is most known for his time in WWE as a member of the Vaudevillians team with Aiden English. Outside of WWE, Gotch is a member of Contra Unit in MLW and appears at many indies. Gotch has also gained a lot of views on his YouTube shoot where he “buries Enzo Amore”
Gotch was recently doing a Q&A on social media and was asked what he believes he would get in star ratings for a match with CM Punk and Elijah Burke. Gotch answered the question by giving his thoughts on Meltzer and his star ratings.
I don’t believe in star ratings. Meltzer is an idiot and the only smart thing that could come out of his mouth, would be a bullet that entered through the back of his head.

Pro wrestling is meant to create drama and cause fans to feel emotions. You can love or hate Dave Meltzer, hell you can even be indifferent and not care what he says either way. One thing is for sure, wishing death upon someone is not something you should do ever. Gotch’s disdain for Meltzer has not been well documented, so it’s shocking to read something like this from Simon with not much context on the matter.
