How did Becky Lynch lose her Popularity?

Becky Lynch was one of the most over stars WWE had ever since she attacked Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam. Her underdog and Stone Cold-esque personality managed to connect with a big part of the WWE fan base and propelled her to the main event of WrestleMania 35.

But what happened? Ever since her victory over both Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, her popularity and connection with the fans has been decreasing and WWE is worried and now they are trying everything in their power to get her back on track.

The lackluster feud with Lacey Evans

On paper this feud should’ve been amazing, specially with the story of Lacey being the new favorite female wrestler of Vince McMahon and having the looks Vince McMahon likes on female wrestlers.

This feud had a lot of problems to begin with. The fact that the introduction of Lacey Evans to the fans of the main roster was just her walking in and out of the stage and cutting one single promo until the RAW after WrestleMania.

Another problem was the fact that Lacey Evans is very green in the ring. She had the character aspects of things well done but her in-ring work needed more work. The fact that she was green in the ring didn’t help at all and the matches Lacey Evans and Becky Lynch were not that interesting to watch. In this current era of professional wrestling in-ring work is more important than ever and the feud in that department did not deliver.

The feud was also too long, and Becky Lynch was stuck with Evans most part of her run as WWE RAW Women’s Champion.

The love story with Seth Rollins

WWE thought that making the relationship between Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch as part of a storyline would be great especially considering that both Rollins and Lynch are WWE’s top babyfaces.

The chemistry on screen was not there with Rollins and Lynch and to make things worse their opponents Corbin and Evans had much more chemistry than them on screen.

The end of the chase

Doesn’t matter the era or promotion you look at, most babyfaces in professional wrestling are very good at the chase of their objective, from payback to winning the championship, the chase is the perfect scenario for babyfaces to get over with the fans. But once the chase if over they need a new challenge.

Now that the chase for the championship is over for Lynch, she has no mountain to climb right now and she is just stocked in this feud that WWE creative is giving her that are just the cliché type of feuds you see in WWE nowadays.

These factors have led to the popularity of Lynch decrease in a short amount of time. But hope is not lost for her yet. Both Heyman and Bischoff could help her turn things around and become once more the most over wrestler in WWE’s main roster.
