205 Live Recap: Episode 143
Last week on 205 Live: Akira Tozawa got a win over Jack Gallagher after The Brian Kendrick may or may not have intentionally cheated. Gran Metalik was taken out in the back so Humberto Carrillo teamed with Kalisto and Lince Dorado to pick up the win over Ariya Daivari and the Singh Brothers. Lince Dorado is showing shades of a heel turn. Drew Gulak retained once again over Oney Lorcan.
Cold Open
Tonight is a Captains Challenge match. Drew Gulak and Oney Lorcan are both captains. Drew chose Ariya Daivari, Mike Kanellis, Angel Garza and Tony Nese. Tony I guess is heel now. Drew went through his team and gave a reason for why he chose each person. Drew does a really good job. Oney then gets his chance to name his team. Humberto Carrillo, Isiah Swerve Scott, Jack Gallagher and Akira Tozawa.
Ariya Daivari, Mike Kanellis, Angel Garza, Tony Nese and Drew Gulak vs. Humberto Carrillo, Akira Tozawa, Swerve Scott, Jack Gallagher and Oney Lorcan
- It looks like this whole hour long episode is gonna be this match. I’m hoping it is elimination, cause damn.
- The match starts with a brawl and all the good guys stand tall. Jack Gallagher then gave everyone on the team umbrellas. Then they all dove off the top rope with their umbrellas, landing on their respective opponents.
- The bell hasn’t even rung yet. Drew Gulak regroups his team to plan on how to handle Oney’s team.
- Scott and Gulak started off once the bell rang. Angel Garza then got tagged in. He is wearing pants at the moment, really he hope he rips them off.
- Humberto gets tagged in, both cousins start fighting while commentary argues over who is prettier. Garza rips off his pants!!!! Nigel loses his shit. Garza then pulls some dirty tricks on Carrillo to gain the advantage. The whole heel team stomps on Carrillo except for Nese, who decided to drop down to the floor and not help his team cheat.
- Kanellis is tagged in and it seems like everyone on Gulak’s team gets a chance to beat the shit out of Carrillo. Gulak tags in frequently as well.
- Tozawa ends up getting tagged in and does a bit of a hot tag comeback. He takes out almost the entirety of Drew Gulak’s team.
- Drew tags Kanellis, who is no match for Tozawa. It looks like Tozawa can handle this entire team on his own.
- Tozawa was eliminated quickly by Kanellis but then Kanellis got eliminated by getting headbutted by Gallagher.
- Tony Nese jumps in the ring and we are down to 4-on-4
- Gallagher had the match well in hand until Ariya Daivari cheated to help Nese out. Tony wasn’t paying attention and hit the sunset driver on Gallagher. Oney Lorcan’s team is down 4-3 now.
- Swerve Scott entered the ring and the crowd chanted for him. It wasn’t a strong chant but it was audible.
- Tony Nese is trying to go toe-to-toe with Swerve but Nese is in over his head here. It’s amazing how well Swerve looks on 205 Live. Nese gets one offensive move in and quickly tags into Angel Garza.
- As Garza is beating up on Swerve, the camera shows an argument backstage between Tozawa and Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick. Brian and Gallagher are gonna have a match next week. Tozawa seems confused.
- Swerve starts fighting off Garza and Nese, goes after Ariya and Angel Garza takes advantage of Swerve being distracted. Daivari tags in and Swerve looks like he is in trouble.
- The heel team is trading quick tags while all working over Swerve’s arm.
- Lorcan blind tags Swerve as Nese hits the running Nese on Swerve. Lorcan goes for his finish, the half and half suplex, but Tony flips out of it. Tony seems to be able to handle Lorcan pretty well.
- Nese goes for a sunset driver two times in a row and Lorcan is able to fight out of it to hit his half and half.
- Angel gets tagged in so Oney tags Humberto in. Angel tries to use some trickery but Humberto is well aware of Angel’s antics now.
- Swerve was tagged in and hit his Swerve stomp on Garza. Drew Gulak saved the pinfall or else his team would be down 3-2.
- Gulak hit a cyclone crash neckbreaker on Swerve and got the win.
- Carrillo and Lorcan are facing off against Garza, Daivari and Gulak.
- Then while Daivari got tagged inand had a headlock in on Carrillo, Lucha House Party had a picture and picture promo saying Daivari is the one who took Metalik out. Kalisto said he is gonna face Daivari next week.
- Carrillo gets a desperation tag to Lorcan and Oney started taking out the heels all by himself. Still doing the weird “get the crowd into it” taunt, which still doesn’t work, so it looks weird as hell.
- Gulak grabbed a chair and started hitting Lorcan over and over with the chair. Gulak got disqualified for using the chair. Gulak doesn’t leave though, he continues to beat down Lorcan with the chair. Carrillo and Lorcan are both beat beyond belief.
- Then a picture and picture happens advertising NXT.
- Carrillo tags in and is getting double teamed by Garza and Daivari since Lorcan is laying outside of the ring nursing his wounds.
- Lorcan finally gets to his feet and gets tagged in. Daivari gets tagged in by Garza and Lorcan is taking Daivari to the woodshed. Ariya is able to catch a superkick on Lorcan but misses a top rope dive. All four men are beaten down and struggling to gain offense.
- Oney gets a flash school boy on Daivari. Ariya is taken out of the match. Garza is the legal man now and the only one left for his team. Great showing for his first time on 205.
- The ref catches Garza using his feet on the ropes. Garza starts arguing with the referee and gets rolled up by Humberto. Angel kicks out and the cousins struggle to stand to their feet.
- Garza keeps hitting big moves and not being able to put Humberto away. Carrillo is kicking out at two and Garza is losing his cool. These cousins are really going at it.
- Carrillo is able to hit a top rope move and get the pin for the win. Oney Lorcan and Humberto Carrillo were the last two standing.
And I’m Like… That hour really flew by. I thought this match would drag on, but all 10 men did a great job at staying entertaining and all getting some time to shine. Just some great wrestling with storylines intertwined in between. Great episode.
