NWA announced that they will begin a weekly show beginning in October. The show will be filmed in a studio much akin to the old NWA Saturday Night tapings from the 80’s. Now NWA has announced that something else from the 80’s NWA is coming back as well. The very controversial Jim Cornette.
Jim Cornette has really become a hot and divisive topic in 2019. His racist rant from the 90’s resurfaced, he has gone to Twitter war with modern wrestlers like Jordynne Grace and Joey Ryan, had very strong opinions about AEW’s signing of Orange Cassidy and most recently has threatened to sue G-Raver for making a shirt that depicts Cornette in an unflattering fashion.
The NWA fanbase was divided, with many saying they won’t even watch an episode of NWA because of their affiliation with Jim Cornette. Many have also said that the reason they stopped watching MLW is because Cornette was featured on it.
It seems like everyone who is turned off by what AEW is doing, what Jim Cornette is so against, will have a home promotion in the NWA. NWA has responded to the criticism by saying that Cornette was their commentator for previous events and that they will stick with him going forward.
