Kurt Angle On What The Secret Is To The Popularity Of WWE
Kurt Angle stopped by local Minneapolis show The Jason Show for a quick interview. The Jason Show airs on Fox 9, the Minnesota Fox affiliate to promote WWE’s move to Fox in October.
It was a basic interview with a very lively studio audience. Late in the video you can even see an audience member wearing two replica WWE championship belts.
Jason and Kurt talk about Kurt never wanting to be into professional wrestling until he saw Stone Cold Steve Austin on television. How Kurt only wrestled for a year before facing off against Stone Cold and when he was asked about why WWE is an entertainment juggernaut, he had this to say.
The business has grown so much and it’s because of the indisputable action, the drama they have on their shows. The wrestlers are phenomenal athletes, they are world class athletes. Watching them perform you can’t doubt that they are some of the best athletes in the world.

What’s a bit funny is you can see when Kurt says “wrestlers” or “wrestling” he quickly corrects himself in saying “Sports Entertainment” or “Sports Entertainers”. WWE tries to push sports entertainment as their main product and not wrestling because wrestling sometimes has a negative connotation to non wrestling fans.
