Rush And Dragon Lee “Fired” From CMLL
CMLL is the oldest active wrestling promotion in the world. Around since the 1930’s, you’d think CMLL would have a handle on how to run a promotion as well as dealing with talent on the roster. Paco Alonso was the owner of CMLL for a long time until his death earlier this year. There wasn’t really a replacement plan in place for when Paco died, it was rather sudden.
Two of CMLL’s top stars are a pair of brothers, Rush and Dragon Lee. Rush has wrestled for MLW and signed to ROH, who has a working agreement with CMLL. Dragon Lee most notably wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. PWG has a yearly tournament called the Battle of Los Angeles. La Bestia hasn’t really made an impact outside of Mexico but appears to be part of the releases.
CMLL released a statement saying that both Dragon Lee and Rush are released from the company for not following guidelines. Twitter account LuchaBlog shed some light on the situation.
The big problem is how this will effect the working relationship between ROH, NJPW and CMLL. The talent is shared between all three promotions and with Rush now ROH champion, the whole situation got a lot more messy.
