Wrestler Cole Radrick Has Knife Pulled On Him During In-Ring Promo By Inebriated Wrestler Hy Zaya
Pro wrestling is based on trust. Trust between performers that they will take care of each other in the ring and trust between promoters and talent that the talent will have their health regarded as a top priority.
At a recent Paradigm Pro Wrestling event, Cole Radrick had a terrible incident happen to him and took to Twitter to share the story.
Last Friday, I had a knife pulled on me and held to my neck in the ring mid-promo in a situation I had no prior knowledge or approval of by a wrestler that was intoxicated and under the influence. I was then told we could work together or “shit would get rough for me.”
I was then told to take a move I was uncomfortable taking given the circumstances by said party, and after I said no, the party continued to do so. The situation put me at risk and I told the owners of said company so. I was not aware of what was happening nor did I approve.
Then in the locker room said party again threatened me, saying we could work together or shit would get rough for me while still having his knife by his side. I tried to remain professional and leave, as I didn’t feel comfortable with what was happening.
The owners of company have since reached out and have tried to resolve the situation as best as they can. I have been lucky enough lately to have good things happen to me in wrestling but this situation has made me very anxious, skeptical and uncertain about everything.
I hope this whole thing can be resolved and that company and I continue to work together, but do not let anyone do anything to you that you’re uncomfortable with. It was unprofessional and out of line. Said party has since denied any wrongdoing. I just want this to be resolved.
The reason I am posting this is that I’ve had several people ask me about the situation and I’m wanting to be as transparent as possible about it. The company involved is doing what’s needed to resolve all of it and I want no ill-will held towards them, hence me not naming them.
These kind of actions are unnecessary and unneeded in our profession. I try to be one of the easiest, most relaxing guys in and out of the ring. I know I’m not perfect but I will not allow myself to be put in a similar situation again.
This is all I will say about it.
@ColeRadrick
If you know, you know.
Just want people to be better than this.
I’m not seeking legal action nor will I. I just want people to be better than this.
Paradigm then put out a statement saying they would never work with Hy Zaya again and apologized for the incident.
It’s horrible that this incident occurred, but it’s good that PPW is doing what’s right to make sure this never happens again.
