CM Punk made his return to WWE Television on WWE Backstage on Tuesday night and will be a correspondent for the show taking part in the show on occasion but not weekly.
According to PWInsider, Punk’s contract is with FOX and not through WWE, this was a FOX decision as well but WWE did give their blessing. Renee Young was the only one that had knowledge of Punk returning so that the news wouldn’t leak anywhere.
Punk and FOX had been in negotiations for some time but the deal was finalized in just the last few days.
With CM Punk taking part in WWE television as part of FOX, there is still a chance Punk could make a return to the ring or WWE programming as well.
