The Undertaker Says That He Doesn’t Believe His Character Would Have Last Through Attitude Era

The Undertaker is easily one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Throughout his career we have seen numerous variations or incarnations of The Undertaker character, one of which was his “American Badass” persona.

On the most recent episode of Steve Austin’s podcast “The Broken Skull Sessions”, he sat down and talked with The Undertaker about his career. During the interview The Undertaker discussed the reason why he made some important and drastic changes to his character over the years. The Undertaker revealed that he feels as though if he hadn’t changed up his character during the attitude era, that he doesn’t think he would have lasted.

“I always felt like, if I started feeling stale, my audience is probably feeling it before me. You get wrapped up in what you’re doing. So, the small changes, the breaks at the right time—but I don’t think I would had made it through if I hadn’t changed when I did to go to the American Badass. The character—I don’t think—would have lasted through the Attitude Era.”
