WWE Reportedly Changed Outcome Of Both Royal Rumble Matches
Coming out of last night’s Royal Rumble PPV, there have been a slew of reports that WWE decided to change up plans at the last minute.
We reported earlier on original plans for the United States Championship match, Sasha Banks, and Cain Velasquez. However, those apparently aren’t the only changes WWE made as they head down the road to WrestleMania.
On the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about both the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble Matches and mentioned that having Charlotte Flair and Drew McIntyre win their respected matches was not the original plans. He noted that originally the plan was for Shayna Baszler and Roman Reigns to walk out of last night’s PPV as the winner’s of their Rumble Matches. However, as plans were laid out for WrestleMania the decision was made instead to go with Charlotte Flair and Drew McIntyre.
“This has been confirmed. Shayna Baszler and Roman Reigns were scheduled to win the two Royal Rumbles and then as they were trying to decide what was going to happen for WrestleMania the decision was made to go with Charlotte Flair and Drew McIntyre.”
As it was earlier reported, Roman Reigns has been said to be scheduled to face “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36, so he still looks to be in place for a WrestleMania main event calibur match.
