How Much Edge’s New 3-Year Deal With WWE Is Worth & More Contract Details Revealed
WWE Hall of Famer Edge made his in-ring return Sunday night at the Royal Rumble PPV as a surprise entrant in the Men’s Rumble Match.
It was later reported that Edge had signed a new 3-year deal with WWE and that there were plans in place for him to wrestle at least one more match at WrestleMania 36. It now looks as though we can expect to see Edge wrestle more than just one more match, as new details of his contract have been revealed.
According to a report from TalkSport, Edge never really had any intent on signing with AEW and merely used talks to leverage a better deal with WWE. It was also reported that Edge’s new 3-year deal with WWE is believed to be around $3 million per year and he will be paid in full as long as he competes in at least three matches a year. It was also reported that Edge’s deal will see him wrestle five matches per year, and includes a total of 25 appearances.
“talkSPORT was out in Texas for Royal Rumble weekend and spoke to several WWE officials and sources to get a comprehensive picture of his return.
According to Wrestle Zone, Edge met with AEW to discuss potentially returning to them before ultimately deciding on WWE.
It’s believed he may have used AEW to leverage himself a better deal with WWE and never really waned to sign with Tony Khan’s company, our sources confirm.
One source said “Edge and Beth were smiling ear-to-ear” with the deal.
Speaking of Edge’s deal, we believe it for three years at $3 million-a-year. The 11-time world champion gets paid in full as long as he competes three times in a year.
The dates Edge has committed to is five matches – one being the Rumble he took part in last Sunday – and four other matches throughout the year. On top of that, he will make 25 appearances per year.”
One of Edge’s matches took place at the Royal Rumble, leaving four more to go this year. Additionally, including his appearance on last night’s RAW we can expect to see Edge on WWE TV another 23 times this year.
We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about WWE’s plans for Edge going forward.
