Paul Heyman Wants To Make Andrade A “Franchise Player”
On last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, we saw United States Champion Andrade written off TV after taking a hammerlock DDT to the exposed concrete floor outside the ring. This appears to be a result of Andrade failing a drug test and violating WWE’s Wellness Policy and has been suspended for 30 days.
Andrade did not lose the US Title in his match against Humberto Carrillo last night on RAW prior to being written off TV, and it appears as though there was a reason behind that.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the situation involving Andrade, the United States Title, and his wellness violation. It noted that WWE’s Executive Director of RAW, Paul Heyman wants to make Andrade a “franchise player”. He went on to report that the plan currently is to keep the United States Championship on Andrade for a while, and establish him as a top name on the RAW brand.
“He wants to turn him into a real franchise player. He wants to establish him as one of the cornerstones I mean, as you can see Andrade, Aleister Black, Buddy Murphy, Ricochet — those are all of the guys. I think that Andrade and Aleister Black and McIntyre are in the forefront of everyone he’s trying to push.”
We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about Andrade and his 30 day suspension for violating WWE’s Wellness Policy, or plans for the United States Championship.
