WWE Abandons Attempt To Trademark EC3’s Name
WWE had previously attempted to trademark the rights to the name “EC3,” however it appears as though WWE has “abandoned” their efforts.
According to a report from PWInsider, WWE “abandoned” their application to trademark the name “EC3” on January 25th, 2020. It was stated that WWE did not respond to a notice of the initial refusal for the trademark from July 24th of last year. WWE was given six months to respond, but did not.
It has been reported that the original application for the trademark was blocked due to the fact that EC3 had already filed paperwork to register the trademark himself back in April, 2019. WWE is able to revive their trademark application at a later date if they choose to do so.
It was reported in December of last year that EC3 had suffered a concussion and was out of action. His return date was not known. It was also reported that Vince McMahon has given up on pushing EC3.
We will keep you updated if we hear anything else about the status of EC3 or WWE’s attempts to trademark his name.
