Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 36 to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
As we reported earlier, Charlotte Flair stated that she plans on defending the NXT Women’s Championship across all three brands. She also said that she “barely scratched the surface” in her feud with Rhea Ripley, however it now looks as though it may be awhile before the two pick up their program.
According to a report from PWInsider, Rhea Ripley was forced to return to Australia following the WrestleMania 36 taping due to the expiration of her work visa. This of course means that she will not be around for the next set of TV tapings that WWE is planning.
Also, anyone who flies into Australia currently is forced to go through a mandatory two-week isolation period for precautionary reasons. This being said, it would be a minimum of two-weeks before she would even be allowed to return to the states, not including however long it takes for her to take care of her paperwork renewing her work visa.
“Given the current state of the world, there is no known timetable for her return, but she given the different quarantines involved with international travel in each country, there is no real way for her to return in time for this week’s scheduled NXT tapings in Florida, which will cover multiple episodes of the USA Network series.”
It was also pointed out that the situation with Rhea Ripley having to return to Australia to renew her work visa, and the uncertainty on when she will be able to return to the United States may have played a part in the decision to put Charlotte Flair over in their WrestleMania 36 Title Match.
