WWE’s Original Plan For Goldberg’s WrestleMania 36 Match
WrestleMania 36 was originally supposed to feature a Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Goldberg, however Reigns pulled out of the event and instead Braun Strowman got the title shot.
The Universal Title Match at WrestleMania 36 eventually saw Braun Strowman defeat Goldberg to become the new champion, but that apparently wasn’t the original outcome of that match either.
According to a report from Wrestle Talk, when Roman Reigns backed out of WrestleMania the plan was for Goldberg to go over Strowman, so that WWE could pick back up the Goldberg vs. Reigns program and hold their match during a later event. Also, the only reason they put the belt on Goldberg was so that he could put over Reigns, which now looks as though isn’t going to happen.
“WWE’s initial plan when they figured Roman wouldn’t be on the show was to have Goldberg retain. WWE wanted Goldberg to put over Roman Reigns, with this being the only reason he defeated The Fiend for the Universal Championship at Super ShowDown.”
We will keep you updated if we hear anything else about Goldberg and his future plans, if any, in WWE.
