WWE Officially Deemed An “Essential Business” By Florida Governor Rick Desantis
WWE pre-recorded this week’s upcoming episode of SmackDown on FOX, but that is the only WWE TV episode that the company recorded last week before Vince McMahon made the decision to return to airing their broadcasts live.
The decision to return to live broadcasting WWE’s television programming is said to have been due to the fact that the company is contracted to produce 49 weeks of live television a year.
WWE had previously faced issues with producing their television programming, as they tried to follow CDC guidelines and regulations set in place restricting the number of people allowed in one place at the same time. However, all of that seems to be in the rearview mirror as WWE has now officially been declared “essential business” by Florida Governor Rick Desantis.
“I think initially there was — a review that was done and they were not initially deemed an an essential business. With some conversation with the governor’s office regarding the governor’s order, they were deemed an essential business. And so therefore, they were allowed to remain open.”

A memo was apparently sent out last Thursday by Desantis declaring that all sports and media were deemed essential business as long as the venue was closed to public. Which you can see below.
WWE returned to broadcasting their TV episodes live starting with tonight’s episode of RAW, and will continue to run live every week from the WWE Performance Center for the foreseeable future.
