WWE Did Not Use AJ Styles On RAW Like They Had Planned
WWE had brought AJ Styles to RAW, along with fellow OC members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. The trio was supposed to have been a monster heel faction, who helped put over new babyfaces on the red brand. However, that never ended up being the case.
WWE released both Gallows and Anderson back on April 15th, along with many Superstars who were a part of the company’s “Black Wednesday” cuts. This of course brought an end to plans for The OC, as AJ Styles was eventually traded back to SmackDown after never really accomplishing his purpose for being put on RAW to begin with.
AJ Styles situation was discussed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, and Dave Meltzer explained what WWE had planned for AJ Styles on RAW.
“AJ was there to make new babyfaces, that was what he was there for, How many new babyfaces did he make? None. He didn’t even lose on the way out. Well, he lost to The Undertaker but that didn’t but that does nobody any good.”
“My point is that every one of these guys from Ricochet to Cedric Alexander to Humberto Carrillo – every single one of them was supposed to be in a big feud with AJ where they would get over and they would win the title and not one of them did.”
We will have to see what WWE has planned for AJ Styles now that he is once again a part of the SmackDown Live roster.
