Eric Bischoff Says He Would Have Filleted McMahon Like A Fish If Social Media Was Around During Monday Night Wars
Can you imagine how influential Social Media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram would have been during the Monday Night War between WWE and WCW? Well it seems that former WCW head honcho Eric Bischoff would have been all for it.
In response to a question posed by WrestleNews365 on Twitter, Bischoff made it very clear how he would’ve gone to town on his arch enemy (at the time) Vince McMahon, stating that he would have “filited him like a fish”.
WCW famously ran roughshot over the wrestling scene throughout the majority of the 90′, beating WWE in the ratings war for 84 consecutive weeks. Poor management, booking and bravado would be their downfall however, losing their grip on the industry and allowing WWE to swoop in and… well you know the rest.
Social Media has proven to be a fantastic marketing tool for wrestling promotions over the last decade, with WWE even putting out shows exclusive to these platforms such as the Mixed Match Challenge. Could Twitter and Facebook have saved WCW? We will never know for sure, but one thing we do know is that it would’ve certainly spiced things up even more than they already were. Just imagine Bischoff and McMahon tweeting back and forth, trading verbal blows and leaking spoilers for each other… it would’ve been great!
