AEW Not Airing Womens Tag Tournament On Dynamite
AEW are set to hold a Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament over the summer months, but the matches won’t be a shown on their flagship show Dynamite.
Instead, the company will be airing the entirety of the tournament on a free platform. The matches will air every Monday on YouTube. They will begin at 7:00 PM and finish right before WWE RAW starts.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that AEW are testing the waters with this kind of tournament and by placing it on YouTube. If it does well then it may end up being an annual event.
It was also noted that All Out is coming up soon. AEW only has a few hours per week to fit in Dynamite and Dark. If the tournament draws good enough numbers on YouTube then they could move the Tag Team Cup to TNT. Until that day comes, if it does, the show will remain on YouTube while the company uses TV time to build toward their next big PPV.
