Miocic: “It is what it is, i’m not going to cry about it”
UFC 252 is fast approaching and it is to be headlined by arguably the biggest heavyweight title fight in UFC history, Miocic vs Cormier 3.
The biggest difference between the first two fights & this the third fight is the fact that it will take place inside of a 25 foot octagon inside the APEX instead of the larger 30 foot sized octagon which is normally used for arena shows that would normally house an event of this caliber.
“A bigger cage is better of course” Miocic said to Brett Okamoto of ESPN (via Jed Meshew of MMA Fighting). “It is what it is. I’m not going to cry about it. I definitely tried to get a bigger cage, but it wasn’t in the cards. What are you gonna do? I’m not worried. My [gym’s] cage is the same size, and I’ve been working on everything.”
Stipe would also echo the sentiments of his opponent Daniel Cormier & UFC President Dana White in agreeing that the winner of this fight will also be crowned the greatest heavyweight in UFC history.
“I mean, yeah I think so,” Miocic said. “I definitely do. I think it’s a big fight. We have credentials, we’ve done a lot, and it’s a big fight. I guess so. I don’t know. Everyone’s been saying that (it will determine the greatest heavyweight ever), so whoever wins this fight is, apparently. I’m just ready for this fight. I’m not worried about what you call me after, baddest man on the planet, the greatest of all time, I don’t care right now. I’m just here to win.”
Miocic has the chance to win the trilogy & hold onto his UFC Heavyweight championship while Cormier will be chasing to finish his career on the highest of highs having previously held the UFC Lightheavyweight & Heavyweight championships simultaneously.
UFC 252 goes down at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday August 15th with Miocic vs Cormier serving as the main event.
