WWE ThunderDome Offers Fans “Virtual Seats” At Live Shows
Fans of the WWE will get the chance to virtually attend live events from SummerSlam weekend onwards, the company has announced.
Thanks to a set that’s being referred to as the WWE ThunderDome, the WWE will offer “virtual seats” to fans, and use footage of those fans – presumably streamed from webcams – during the broadcast of live events.
WWE Executive Vice President of Television Production Kevin Dunn said: “WWE has a long history of producing the greatest live spectacles in sports and entertainment, yet nothing compares to what we are creating with WWE ThunderDome.
“This structure will enable us to deliver an immersive atmosphere and generate more excitement amongst the millions of fans watching our programming around the world.”
Fans who are interested in virtually attending live WWE events are being asked to register at www.WWEThunderDome.com or at WWE’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages from 17 August onwards.
Fans have not attended live WWE shows since an NXT ‘fan appreciation’ episode was taped in March 2020.
The announcement comes as the WWE takes up residency at the Amway Center in Florida, which has a conventional seating capacity of 20,000. The company will host SummerSlam on August 23 and the following week’s Raw and Smackdown events at the arena, as well as WWE Payback on August 30 and Raw on August 31.
NXT TakeOver XXX and NXT regular broadcasts will remain at Full Sail Live.
