Brodie Lee defeated Cody Rhodes for the AEW TNT Championship on this week’s episode of Dynamite, in what was easily one of the biggest victories in his career.
Brodie Lee was dominate throughout the contest, and quickly put away Cody on his way to becoming the new TNT Champion. Following the match, The Dark Order joined Brodie to celebrate and deal out a savage beating to the entire Nightmare Family.
Chris Jericho talked about Mr. Brodie Lee on last night’s episode of Chris Jericho’s Saturday Night Special. Jericho revealed that he contacted Brodie Lee when it was reported that he had first asked for his WWE release, which he was not granted. He went on to say that when Lee was finally released from WWE about a year and a half later, that they made sure that he came to work for AEW.
“I was a big fan of his from the start. The moment that he asked for his release from the WWE, about a year and a half ago, I contacted him. And of course they never gave him his release, so, he went on his merry way. And then the moment he actually did get his release, we made sure that he came to work for us. There’s a lot of pluses for him – we love him, he’s great.”
