AEW’s Second TV Show Expected To Launch Before The End Of 2020
All Elite Wrestling announced the extension of their deal with Warner Media back in January of this year. The extension runs through 2023, and will additionally see another hour-long television show created as part of the deal.
It seemed as though plans for AEW’s second television program had stalled during the coronavirus pandemic, but it was recently reported that plans were still in the works, but a start date had not yet been decided.
In an update regarding AEW’s second TV Show, on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that plans for the show are still in the works. It was added that plans are to launch the program before the end of 2020.
It’s been said that the idea was that the hour of TV would be taped on Wednesday nights, similar to how AEW tapes episodes of Dark, and that the show would air on another night. Originally it was believed that the network would be TNT, but now it’s been said that it could be another one of the various Turner networks, or even the new HBO Max streaming service which is also owned by Warner Media.
AEW’s four-year extension with Warner Media is said to be worth $175 million, roughly $45 million per year. Warner Media also has an option for 2024 that is said to be at a significantly increased price.
We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about AEW’s second television program that is said to launch before the end of 2020.
