Top AEW Star Discusses Having Urine Thrown At Him & More
MJF is widely regarded as one of the top young stars, and one of the top heels in the business, but as with all great heels he generates his fair share of real heat.
During an interview with the New York Post, the number one contender for the AEW World Title opened up on a couple of bad experiences with some more of the ‘passionate’ wrestling fans during his time as a wrestler:
“At AEW, a fan tried to dress up I believe like a pilot and was trying to convince our security that they were supposed to fly me out on a private jet after the show,” MJF said. “I can assure you that that guy was most certainly not my pilot, so there was once a fan who literally tried to kidnap me. I’ve seen it all. When I was in Mexico, people threw a car battery at me and urine at me. That’s because I don’t tiptoe around. I don’t hide how I feel.”
MJF isn’t afraid to insult anyone including wrestling legends, and fans alike.
‘The Enforcer’ Arn Anderson has been in the wrestling industry for nearly four decades, he has certainly seen it all, and even he is surprised at the level of heat MJF is able to generate with the fans and surprised by what he is able to get away with saying without being attacked by a rabid fan:
“I just happened to be walking by a monitor when he started [a stage show at a Starrcast fanfest] and my God, I couldn’t believe the kid was getting away with the stuff that he was saying, that a herd of people didn’t bum rush the podium and cuff him and take him to jail,” Anderson said. “It was unbelievable how he was toeing the line.”
Taz went on to call MJF:
“a pain in the ass, but [AEW’s] pain in the ass.”
MJF would go on to discuss his love for AEW, and how what he does in AEW differs from working for ‘VKM’ and the WWE:
“It’s great that they had their hand held sometimes by VKM, awesome, But I didn’t. I didn’t come from that product. I didn’t come from that land. I am AEW born and bred. I will be AEW until I die. This is my company. This is where I started. This is the company that I’ll end in. My ultimate goal is when I pass away for people to go, ‘That guy was the greatest professional wrestler in the history of our sport. That’s my only goal.”
MJF is undefeated in singles competition in AEW and he is set to receive his reward, this coming Sunday at AEW All Out when he takes on Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title. The stipulation for the match is that Moxley’s finisher, The Paradigm Shift, will be banned. With his best move not in use, will MJF be able to win the gold, and dethrone the man he has dubbed ‘Dictator Jon’?
We won’t have long to wait, with AEW ALL OUT coming to us, this Saturday night September 5th.
