Rey Mysterio Getting His Own Cartoon Network Show
WWE legend Rey Mysterio is set to star in his verh own animated series which will air exclusively on Cartoon Network Latin America.
The series was announced at the 2020 Pixelatl Festival, where Cartoon Network Latin America announced that they had reached an agreement with the founders of Viva Calavera! to produce an animated series which centers around the WWE and lucha libre icon.
Lucha Central reported that the series will combine the excitement and adrenaline of wrestling with mystery, mythology, history, magic and supernatural beings meaning the show will appeal to children of all ages.
Mysterio had the following to say:
“After 35 years of career and multiple achievements, I was still missing something. I always wanted an animated series with the character of Rey Mysterio and when the idea was presented to me, I was immediately captivated,
Working with Cartoon Network has been incredible, I can’t think of anyone better than this group to make this project a reality,”
Mysterio suffered a torn triceps during a tag team match alongside his son Dominik at Sunday’s WWE Payback pay-per-view event. The injury forced WWE to pull him from his advertised singles match against Seth Rollins on next weeks edition of RAW. There is currently no word on when Mysterio will be back in action.
