COVID-19 Hits AEW Stars

News has appeared which confirms that multiple AEW stars have been hit with COVID19. Fightful and Spectrum Sports 360’s were able to confirm that active wrestlers who participated on the September 9th tapings of AEW have tested positive since those tapings. Other stars are also showing symptoms, but have yet to be tested.

Over the last few months, #AEW has by far had the most extensive COVID-19 protocols among any wrestling companies that chose to run during the pandemic. The conditions of how or where the virus was transmitted is not entirely clear at this time. Hoping everyone affected is OK.

The majority of the talent that appear to have been impacted had been brought in to tape episodes of AEW Dark. Due to how AEW bring these talents in, a lot of them are not contracted and are independent talents who are able to take bookings elsewhere. All of the talent is tested when they make an appearance on AEW or before they even step in the stadium.

One of the main talents to have caught Covid-19 appears to be Lance Archer. Archer confirmed this shortly before the show started to ensure people knew why he wasn’t present. He confirmed via Twitter that it was as a result of a family member contracting the disease and passing it on to him.

When I returned from our last show, a family member was ill when I got home. I found out later a friend who had taken my family member to the Vet for our Dachshund was COVID positive. While at home, now I’ve also gotten sick tested positive. I feel ok, expect to see me in 2 wks

Both AEW and WWE have suffered Covid-19 flare up’s with WWE’s being 2 weeks ago in the performance centre. We hope all impacted make a speedy recovery.
